Clinical Senior Research Associate - Clinical Trialist (Fixed Term)

A postdoc position is available at University Of Cambridge. Citizens of any country are eligible to apply. The deadline for applying is September 16, 2018.

*Appointment at Senior Research Associate level is subject to approval by the Faculty Board of Clinical Medicine *

The University of Cambridge is seeking an individual, with experience of designing and running trials, to join the Cambridge Clinical Trials Unit (CCTU) based within the School of Clinical Medicine.

The CCTU is fully accredited with the NIH, and has a strong portfolio of over 40 clinical trials, across a broad-range of disease areas. There is a strong emphasis on early phase and translational research. This new post is designed to further strengthen the academic expertise of the CCTU, expand the portfolio of academic-led trials, and number of successful NIHR awards.

The post-holder will be expected to build and lead their own portfolio of externally funded clinical trials and to work with other local investigators to design and execute trials. A higher degree and first-hand experience of designing and running clinical trials is essential. Applicants should have a strong academic track record as evidenced by publications and/or competitive grant awards.

The post offers significant protected time to develop a personal research programme and applicants are expected to seek independent research funding for their work from the NIHR. The successful applicants will also have a role in supporting teaching and training within the Trials Unit and Medical School.

Informal enquiries should be directed to David Jayne, Professor of Clinical Autoimmunity, via Karen Ellis (, tel 01223 748062).

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 3 years in the first instance.
