Clinical Psychiatry Research Fellow

Imperial College London is delighted to offer a postdoc position. This fellowship is available for all students around the world. The deadline for applying is September 16, 2018.

A psychiatrist is required for a study to compare the mechanisms, tolerability and efficacy of a single high dose of psilocybin versus a course of a leading antidepressant medication, escitalopram, in major depressive disorder (MDD). This will be a 2-arm, active comparator, double-blind randomised control trial in a total of 50 completing volunteers. Patients will be assessed clinically using structured interviews and we will perform fMRI imaging before and after assessing patients' reactions to emotional faces before, and one week after, dosing.

To apply for the post, you will need to hold the MRCPsych exam and be registered with the GMC. The post holder will also need to hold an honorary contract with Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.

The post is full-time, fixed-term for 1 year in the first instance.

Salary: 32,478 – 57,444 per annum plus London Weighting Allowance of 2,162 per annum or 26,614 – 46,208 per annum plus 2,162 London Allowance per annum if the successful applicant has transitioned to the new junior doctor pay scales before appointment
