Postdoc Scholarship in Bioinformatics

ISAS is seeking a highly motivated postdoc student with an interest in computer science. Citizens of any country are eligible to apply. The deadline for applying is April 15, 2015.

We invite applications for a Post-doctoral position / Scientist (m/f) in Bioinformatics The availability of well-adapted bioinformatics tools, appropriate hardware and well-maintained databases is a fundamental prerequisite for the valid exploitation of these large volumes of data in all areas of life sciences. The German Network for Bioinformatics Infrastructure (de.NBI) takes care of this challenge for many areas of life sciences with its mission to provide, expand and improve a repertoire of specialized bioinformatics tools, appropriate computing and storage capacities and high-quality data resources. In the group systems analysis at ISAS Dortmund in the consortium BioInfra.Prot you will be responsible for:
- Software integration, protection and care of the bioinformatics infrastructure under de.NBI network in close collaboration with our national partners.
- Continuous development of bioinformatic services for omics technologies.
- Analysis of complex omics datasets expand, enhance and ensure the sustainability of the data.
- Development of user interfaces for simplified analysis of existing data sets.
- Infrastructure such as clustering and database administration.
- Search engine support and optimization.
- Generation and maintenance of a database system
The salary will be according to the German TV-L. The full-time position is offered up to the end of February 2018. The position is available immediately.
Application Requirements
- PhD in Bioinformatics.
- Strong background and interest in the field of computer science or bioinformatics.
- Solid C + +, Java, Python, Ruby and MATLAB knowledge.
- Experience with analysis of mass spectrometric data.
- Knowledge of quantitative omics experiments.
- Basic knowledge of biology, biochemistry and chemistry.
- English is required, German is an advantage.
