Postdoctoral opportunities in Biology

The Department of Physiology and Neurobiology of the University of Connecticut is seeking a talented, high caliber, motivated and hard working University Postdoctoral Fellow to participate in NIH funded projects and to join a dynamic interdisciplinary team of scientists focused on understanding nuclear receptor and non-coding RNA mediated circadian clock control of both non-alcoholic and alcoholic liver diseases, including fatty liver, liver fibrosis and liver cancer.
Application Requirements
- A Ph.D. or M.D. degree with previous extensive experience in molecular biology, mouse physiology, and liver pathophysiology research, including PCR, Southern, Northern, Westerns, cloning and mapping of constructs, protein expression, cell culture techniques, high throughput transcriptomics (RNA-seq) and metabolomics. Knowledge and experience in cell biology using primary cells (hepatocyates, Kupffer cells or steallate cells) and cell lines is mandatory. The ability to work independently and take a leading role on assigned projects under the supervision of the P.I. and to be highly and self-motivated with a strong desire for career development. Experience working with mice is essential. Excellent communication skills are required during the postdoctoral training.
- Word processing, sequence analysis and database searches. Experience with DNA methylation analysis is an advantage.
