PhD position in Plant Biotechnology

ULB is delighted to offer PhD position in biology. All students regardless of citizenship are eligible to apply. Applicants should apply before April 17, 2015.

Abiotic stresses (i.e. lack of water or minerals …) are still preventing the development of a profitable agriculture in many parts of the world. Fyteko is a start-up that has an ambitious vision to deliver innovative biostimulating products helping crops to face these abiotic stresses. These products have a direct action on the natural metabolism of plants and the aim of this fellowship will be to better understand the impacts of these compounds on the plant metabolism.
Application Requirements
- This fully funded PhD studentship at University of Brussels (ULB) will have to take place part time in the University (ULB) and part time in Fyteko ’s facilities (also located in Brussels).
- We are looking for an ambitious, enthusiastic team player and result-driven scientist with an excellent academic record (MSc) in biology, biochemistry or agronomy and a real affinity to work with plants.
- A basic understanding in plant sciences and prior lab experience in plant cultivation would be preferred as it is foreseen to work with Arabidopsis thaliana in lab (molecular techniques to gain insight into biosynthetic routes) and evaluate effetcs on crops in the field.
- Oral and written communication skills would need to be in English or French.
