PhD Scholarship in Chemistry

Applicants are invited to apply for PhD funding in chemistry at Cardiff University. The duration of this scholarship is 3 years. To be eligible, candidates must hold European citizenship. Applications are invited up to August 31, 2015.

PhD Studentship in Synthetic Organic Chemistry. Applications are invited for a 3-year Ph.D. studentship in synthetic organic chemistry under the supervision of Dr Louis C. Morrill in the School of chemistry at the University of Cardiff.

This studentship consists of full UK/EU tuition fees, as well as a doctoral stipend. The studentship will commence on the 1st of October 2015 (stipend: £ 13,863 p.a.) and is open to applications from UK and EU nationals.

This is a 3-year PhD studentship.

Application Requirements
- Residency: Full awards (fees plus maintenance stipend) are open to UK Nationals and EU students without further restrictions.
- Academic criteria: Eligible candidates should have, or expect to obtain, a minimum of an upper second-class first degree (2: or European equivalent and a Masters in Chemistry.
- The successful candidate will also have a strong background in organic chemistry.
- First-hand experience in a relevant area of chemistry such as synthetic chemistry, catalysis or heterocyclic synthesis is highly desirable.
- A highly motivated and dedicated student will gain a thorough training in synthetic organic chemistry and be rewarded with a highly stimulating project that will shape the future of this exciting new research program.
