Research/Professor Position in Microbiology

Applicants are invited to apply for a research position in biology at INRS. All students regardless of citizenship are eligible to apply for this position. Applications are invited up to March 20, 2015.

The Centre INRS – Institut Armand-Frappier seeks to fill two tenure-track positions of professors-researchers in microbiology. The successful candidates will join a research center where more than forty professors undertake leading-edge research and graduate teaching in various fields in the areas of human, animal and environmental health. The center provides access to exceptional animal facilities, has a level 3 biosafety research laboratory, as well as state-of-the-art core research facilities in proteomics, electron and confocal microscopy and flow cytometry.

The candidates will be integrated into the Microbiology and Biotechnology research program (www.inrs.ca/english/research-centres/iaf/research-areas).

Main duties and responsabilities
- Develop innovative and independent research activities, in a multidisciplinary environment, in microbiology
- Secure external funding from governmental and private granting agencies, and industrials partners;
- Participate in graduate teaching and training at the M.Sc., Ph.D. and postdoctoral levels.

Application Requirements
- A Ph.D. degree in an appropriate field;.
- A relevant postdoctoral research experience;.
- A research productivity demonstrating both originality and autonomy;.
- Leadership and ability to work in a team and within multidisciplinary research networks;.
- Expertise in Streptomyces, Archaea, Fungi or extremophiles would be an asset;.
- The area of application of the research could include synthetic biology in relation with green chemistry, nanobiotechnology, bioprocess, biomass valorization and food microbiology.
- French is the working language of the Institute. Knowledge of English is an asset.
