PhD studentships in vaccine research

London School of Hygiene Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) has an opening PhD scholarship in medicine. This scholarship is avalable for all students around the world. Applications are invited up to January 30, 2015.

Three MRC-funded PhD studentships in vaccine research are available at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine to commence in October 2015. All areas of research relevant to vaccines are covered, from microbiology and immunology to epidemiology, modelling and public health policy.

The studentships are for 3.5 years and will cover a tax free stipend at the RCUK rate (£ 15,863.00 for 2014-15), tuition fees (at the home/EU student rate) and research support. Successful students will also undertake a 3-month placement in another laboratory or institution.

The full award is available to UK residents only, other EU nationals may receive an award to cover tuition fees only. Applications for part-time study may be accepted depending on the nature of the chosen project.

Application Requirements
Applicants must hold, or expect to obtain, a 1st or 2.1 Honours degree, and preferably a relevant MSc, or have a combination of relevant qualifications and experience which demonstrates equivalent ability and attainment.

Applicants must meet the MRC Student Eligibility requirements. Applicants must have been ordinarily resident in the UK throughout the 3-year period immediately preceding the date of the award.

The deadline for applications is Friday 30th January at 5pm.

Shortlisted candidates will be contacted during week beginning 9th February 2015. Interviews are likely to place sometime between 18th and 20th February 2015.
