PhD Fellowship in Optics and Photonics

Applicants are invited to apply for PhD position in physics at Durham University. Citizens of any country are eligible to apply. The deadline for applying is February 2015.

We are seeking a physicist or engineer with an interest in optics to pursue a PhD in ophthalmic optics using adaptive optics. The specific project will depend on the interests of the students but will potential involve measuring accommodation in the eye (the ability to focus) and/or new ways to measure people' s eyesight.

It is likely to involve collaboration with (and potentially travel to) collaborators at Oxford, Bangor (UK) and UC Berkeley (USA).

The EPSRC will pay the fees and cover the usual student stipend for 3.5 years from October 2015.

Application Requirements
Applicants should have or expect to attain a good (first or upper second class) honours degree in physics, engineering or a related subject.
