Assistant or Associate Professor Position in Neuroscience

The College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) at North Carolina State University invites applications for a tenure track position in Neuroscience with a 12 month appointment (100 % salary coverage) at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. Qualifications.

Application Requirements
A PhD degree in combination with either medical training (DVM, MD, or equivalent) and/or extensive postdoctoral experience is required. For consideration at the Associate Professor level, the candidate must hold current, significant extramural funding. Preference will be given to candidates working in the areas of circuits and behavior, neurological disease pathways (including metabolic and age-related biology), and/or synaptic physiology and signal integration.

We are particularly interested in investigators with a basic research program that interfaces with existing departmental strengths in developmental and stem cell biology, regenerative medicine, neurotoxicology, pharmacology, genomics, and clinical neurology. For more information about our department please visit Utilization of modern experimental approaches together with small or large animal models is a requirement. Preference will be given to candidates who study molecular and cellular problems using modern methods to manipulate neuronal activity.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work in a highly collegial and collaborative environment consisting of basic and clinical investigators at the CVM, the Center for Comparative Medicine and Translational Research, and various colleges and departments on the NC State campus. This includes attractive prospects for collaboration with veterinary scientists studying naturally occurring veterinary disease models, quantitative and computational biologists, biomedical and biomaterial engineers, and Geneticists on the NC-State campus. Ample opportunities also exist for interaction and collaboration with members of the Research Triangle Park including UNC, Duke, NIEHS, EPA, and several biotech companies.

In addition to maintaining a rigorous extramurally funded research program, candidates are expected to participate in training graduate students and teaching in various graduate programs across NC-State as well as teaching in the DVM curriculum.
